Considerations and features of the workbook
Things that the book should be able to do:- Will allow the audience to collect inspiration for a project
- The workbook should allow for a range of things to be documented within it e.g. written notes, drawings, photographs.
- The design should be clean, minimal and grey, with the plainness of the book allowing the content that is added to make the book interesting.
- Having simple and standard layout (e.g. positioning of exercises and topics) throughout for documentation pages will allow the pages to be adapted and personalised to fit the designers needs, whilst letting the content dictate the book.
- The design should be cheap to make so that it can be re-bought for different projects.
- Creating a Workbook / Sketchbook aesthetic makes it more functional and less precious.
- Open question should be used for the exercises so that the user can respond to the questions as they like.
- The use of light grey throughout allows things to be written over the top etc and allows the added content to be the main focus of the design
- Exercises and Documentation pages should be split up to allow people to choose which pages they want to respond to the question on. Makes it adaptable to the persons practice or way of working creating a more functional design for alongside their practice.
