Exercise Page Designs
- It was thought that each of the exercises could be places within the square used to represent the page.
- Combining the boxes with smaller brand elements created contrast within the design, however the the boxes stood out too much and took the emphasis away from the exercises.
- Reducing the thickness of the box line weight made the boxes look disproportionately large.
- It was considered that there could be one exercise per page however this seemed unnecessary because there would be a lot of wasted space within the design. Also there are twenty five exercises so it would make the book quite thick when combined with the documentation pages.
- It was thought that each of the brand elements could act as a bullet point for each of the exercises however this it was thought may suggest to user which page to use which is not wanted.
- It was considered that each topics exercises could fit on a double spread to create a link between content
- The use of all three brand elements on each page would not suggest which to use and avoided bias towards any one type of page allowing users to use the book as they wish
- Placing the elements within a grid system however quite loosely creates the effect that the brand elements have been stuck in or stuck to a wall like post it notes reflecting the documentation process.
- Having the logo on each page could help link the brand elements back to the original branding and create a sense of the complete documentation process.
- Placing the logo at the bottom so it is the same scale as the other elements makes it stand out less and look part of rest of the design.
- Using grey for the brand symbols makes them stand out less and creates a better sense of depth within the design, whilst allowing the text to stand out more.
- It was considered that the design could be refined down to the three brand elements over the double page spread however this would leave one of the pages looking unbalanced on its own.
- Varying the sizes of the squares creates depth and a more dynamic sense to the design. The larger brand elements look closer whereas the smaller ones look further away creating a layered appearance.
- Reducing the size of the exercise title allowed the actual activity to stand out more.
