Typeface Considerations
For the booklet it was considered that the design should feel like a workbook / sketchbook. These two things contrast each other in a way as a workbook layout is usually quite precise and structured whereas a sketchbook is looser. It was considered that typography could be used to reflect this contrast in ideas through the use of precise geometric and square typeface alongside a fairly illustrative typeface which would be representative of a sketchbook with its handwritten form. A definition of document also described it as written or printed information so this combination of typefaces would also reflect this definition.
It was considered that using the sans serif typeface for the topic and exercise headers and the handwritten typefaces for the names of the exercises or topics would create the sense that someone had written the topic in like you would fill out a workbook. Using all capitals for the exercise name better emphasises the uniformity of the typeface which contrasts more when alongside the handwritten typefaces.
