Documentation Page Development
It was considered that using the doubles spread as a whole spread would not allow all of the pages to be functional e.g. the lined pages would be interfered with by the binding in the book making it difficult to write all the way across.
Instead it was considered that documentation sections should be restricted to the page size.
- To create a standard layout / structure for all the designs the topic and exercise titles would be put in the same place throughout the book. Placing these at the top and bottom of the pages allows for maximum working space.
- Using the relevant brand elements to match the page type makes a link between the branding concept and the types of pages it represents.
- The document pages will use a rectangle as a way of signalling the things should be placed within the frame.
- It was considered there could be different variations of each type of page however keeping it refined to three types of page reflects the branding and makes the book easier to understand.
- It was considered that the user may want to only use one of the pages on a double spread so including the exercise and topic titles on all pages allows them to be used for different things.
- Black was trialed for the page designs however this perhaps stood out to much when compared with the rest of the design. Making them grey instead was more subtle and reflected the use of grey in the rest of the design and will allow the added content to be the focus of the design.
- Within the book pages will alternate between double spreads of the same designs and mixtures to create an interesting and varied workbook.
